Board rules

The same 10 rules apply on every board. They’re short on purpose. Stewards and admins use them for every decision.

Points reset

Two ways points go away: each one fades 6 months after it was added, and 90 days with no new removals wipes them all (clean slate) and gives you a fresh 0-point first warning. Admins can change both time periods in settings.

The ladder

  1. 1st
First warningYour first removal (and your first after a clean slate) is always 0 points: a friendly notice and a link to the rules.
  2. 3+
WarningAn automatic warning in your inbox and email. Nothing else changes.
  3. 6+
3-day posting pauseYou can read and vote, but not post, reply or start polls.
  4. 10+
14-day suspensionRead-only on all boards. Your open requests stay up.
  5. 15+
30-day suspensionRead-only. A steward reviews your account when it ends.
  6. 20+
Permanent banPosting is removed for good. An admin confirms every ban within 48 hours.

How points work

  • Points are added only when a post or reply is removed for a rule.
  • First warning is free for minor and moderate rules: your first removal is 0 points, and after a clean slate you get a new one. Serious rules add points right away.
  • Each point expires 6 months after the removal.
  • Clean slate: go 90 days with no new removals and all your points reset to 0, and your first warning comes back. Zero-tolerance acts are never part of the points ladder: they are a permanent ban. Your history stays, but it no longer counts.
  • Several reports about the same post count as one removal.
  • A second suspension within 12 months skips ahead one step.
  • Overturned appeals remove the points and any suspension right away.
  • Zero tolerance acts (threats, doxxing, child safety, scams, illegal sales, ban dodging, hate speech, impersonation) skip points: the suspension or ban is automatic. See the Board rules tab.
  • Business accounts lose reply privileges, not the owner’s personal account.
